'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from 25 yards, and his teammate quickly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an unbelievable recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed formation. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was closed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "This turned out fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
